Split Button
⚙️ Overview
The Split Button combines two related actions into a single control:
a main (primary) action and a secondary dropdown for alternate options.
It’s ideal when multiple outcomes share the same context (e.g., Save / Save As, Send / Schedule Send).
Appearances: Primary · Secondary · Tertiary · Inverse
Sizes: Small · Large
Modifiers: Danger · Loading
✅ When to Use
Use a Split Button when:
- You need to present a main action with one or more related alternatives.
- The user should have quick access to the most common action while still being able to choose others.
- Actions share the same category or goal (e.g., export as PDF, CSV, or XLS).
- You want to reduce visual clutter from multiple separate buttons.
🚫 Avoid When
Avoid using a Split Button when:
- The secondary options are unrelated or have different outcomes.
- There’s only one possible action — use a CTA Button instead.
