🧠When to Use / When Not to Use
Use When
- Users need to select one or multiple options from a list.
- You want a compact, space-saving UI for option selection.
- Options are too many to display inline (more than 4–5).
- You want consistent behavior across Simple Select, Radio Select, and Checkbox Select.
Avoid When
- Only one toggle is needed → use Switch or Radio.
- Users must see all options at once → use Radio Group or Checkbox Group.
- Options require complex input → use Select with search or Autocomplete.
- The action is immediate and persistent (e.g., switching tabs) → use Tabs / Segmented Control.
🎨 Considerations
Selection Patterns
Dropdown supports three modes:
- Simple Select
- Single-choice
- Lightest UI
- Shows optional checkmark on selected item
- Radio Select
